Alesse (Ethinyl Estradiol and Levonorgestrel)
contains a combination of hormones, estrogen and
progesterone, which are female hormones involved in
conception. Alesse prevents ovulation. Alesse also
causes the cervical mucous to thicken, which makes it
harder for sperm to move toward the uterus, and prevents
the attachment of the egg to the uterus, thus preventing
pregnancy. Alesse may also be used for purposes other
than preventing pregnancy.
Ortho Evra birth control patch is a highly effective,
weekly hormonal birth control patch that contains
estrogen and progestin and is worn on the skin to
prevent pregnancy. Ortho Evra combines the efficacy of
the birth control pill with once-a-week dosing. The
Patch keeps you from becoming pregnant by delivering
continuous levels of the hormones norelgestromin and
ethinyl estradiol (progestin and estrogen, respectively)
through the skin and into the bloodstream (this is
called transdermal administration).
Ortho Tri-Cyclen is an estrogen and progestin

menopause, or treat other conditions as determined by
your doctor.
Yasmin is a birth control pill used to prevent
pregnancy. Yasmin differs from other birth control pills
because it contains a progestin hormone called
drospirenone. It does not protect against HIV infection
